Nico Melamed: 'The objective is still to earn automatic promotion'
The UD Almería striker says: 'It's the moment of truth' and points out that despite the latest results, neither morale nor confidence have changed to 'finish in the top division'
UD Almería striker Nico Melamed has pointed out: 'For the Club and for the players, our objective is still to earn automatic promotion.' He has also indicated: 'The way to achieve this is to enjoy it again as a group and get rid of that burden that we're all putting on ourselves when we see that the victory that will make us restore the good vibes that we brought recently is not coming.'
Melamed has commented on UDA Radio: 'We want, we want and we want and that is why we're struggling now to get good results.' Nico talks about how 'the moment of truth has come. There is no other mentality than that of closing the gap with those above from the game this Friday.'
The No.10 is not shying away from expectations or the competition objective: 'We don't see promotion as an obsession but, I repeat, as an objective. We want to be a top-tier team and we must prove it to every rival we have in front of us, so that they see that this is not our division.'
Oddly enough, despite having played several times against SD Eibar, Nico has never been to Ipurúa: 'It's one of the few pitches I haven't visited and I know it'll be difficult because they'll put us under pressure but we have to go for the three points no matter what and start a good run.'
Regarding the motivation that rivals always find when they face UD Almería, he said the following: 'It's something we knew from the beginning; we put ourselves in the shoes of the rivals and we'd also like to show everyone that we're capable of beating them. We must be consistent and go out with the mentality that no, we can repeat what we did during the 14 games that we were undefeated.'
Nico Melamed arrived last summer and signed for several seasons: 'I want to experience a nice promotion in Almería and celebrate it with the whole city. I ask the fans to imagine it and to continue fighting for it together. I'm sure that this Friday the good team dynamic will begin and they will post the coconut emoji on the Club's social media again.'
