UD Almería drawn to CD Leganés in Spanish Cup round of 16

CD Leganés will be UD Almería's next opponents in the Spanish Cup round of 16. They will lock horns on 14/15 or 16 January at the UD Almería Stadium. The date and kick-off time will be announced shortly. The Rojiblancos, as they preferred, will not have to take on one of the biggest Spanish clubs in this new Cup round because as head coach Rubi already announced in the press conference after the match against Sevilla FC, the objective is to remain in contention in the tournament and facing the 'Pepineros' boost their chances more than if they had to play against Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona or Atlético de Madrid.
CD Leganés, who have returned to the Primera division this season, sit 15th in the league with 18 points, just 3 away from the relegation places. In the previous tie, they were eliminated, with difficulties, FC Cartagena, whom they won 1-2 at the Cartagonova stadium.
The match against CD Leganés will be held between the league matches against Córdoba CF next Sunday and against SD Huesca a week later. It will be a packed schedule for UD Almeria.
