UD Almería Under-19s 'A' now hold their fate in their own hands as they push for qualification to the Spanish Cup U19s. With 3 matches remaining in the first half of the season, the young Indálicos sit in 5th place in Group IV, a highly competitive group. A crucial 3-0 victory over Tomares last Saturday marked their )3rd back-to-back win, keeping them in the hunt for a top-4 finish, which would guarantee a spot in the knockout rounds of the tournament.
The format for Spanish Cup U19 qualification sees the top-4 teams from each of the 7 groups, plus the 4 best fifth-place finishers, advancing. With the halfway point of the season fast approaching, UD Almería's U19s 'A' are in a strong position, but they must continue to perform.
This Wednesday at 6pm, the team will face bottom-placed Maracena at the Francisco Pomedio Stadium in Huércal de Almería. A victory will keep them on track for qualification. Following that, on Sunday, they will travel to take on Sporting Atlético, currently sitting mid-table but with a strong home record.
The final match before the season break will be a home fixture against relegation-threatened Arenas de Armilla, a crucial encounter for securing their place in the competition.
