UD Almería 'B' return to the Anexo seeking victory against Extremadura
José María Salmerón admits the situation is increasingly difficult but insists the team 'won’t give up' as they target 3 points on Sunday
UD Almería 'B' return to the Anexo pitch this Sunday at 12 noon as they host Extremadura in Matchday 26.
The visitors from Almendralejo, a club with a history in professional football, arrive fighting for a place in the promotion play-offs. Extremadura will look to take advantage of the current situation of UD Almería 'B', who sit well adrift of the safety positions, currently 14 points away.
Despite the difficult scenario, mathematically nothing has been decided and that is what UD Almería 'B' are clinging to. Head coach José María Salmerón acknowledged the challenge but stressed that the team will continue fighting.
'It’s clear that the difficulty is increasing for us; it’s a complicated situation,' he admitted, before adding, 'but we’re not going to give up at any moment.'
The head coach continued: 'We have to take it game by game with the objective of picking up 3 points each time.'
The game against Extremadura will be a demanding one. As Mr Salmerón pointed out, the visitors are among the strongest sides in the division.
'They're a great team, with brilliant players and plenty of experience. We'll have to produce a very complete performance if we want to beat them,' he explained.
In the reverse fixture earlier this season, UD Almería 'B' claimed an impressive 2–4 victory in Extremadura. It came shortly after Salmerón’s arrival on the bench, following a draw in Jerez and back-to-back wins in Huércal and Almendralejo. Since then, however, results have become more complicated.
Season-ticket holders can attend the match free of charge with their season card, while tickets for the rest of attendees are priced at €10.
