UD Almería 'B' determined to secure second home victory of season
José María Salmerón's side hosts Club Atlético Antoniano at the UD Almería Stadium Anexo on Sunday
UD Almería 'B' will be aiming for their second home victory of the season when they take on Seville-based Club Atlético Antoniano this Sunday at 12 noon. The match will be the first for the UDA Academy prospects at their usual ground after it underwent a pitch returfing.
Under the guidance of José María Salmerón, the 'B' team have remained unbeaten in their last 3 matches, collecting 7 out of a possible 9 points. They drew in Jerez, claimed their first home win against Yeclano while the Anexo pitch was being replaced and last week pulled off a surprise victory over league leaders CD Extremadura on the road.
Although Mr Salmerón is currently serving a one-game suspension, his influence is evident in the team’s recent form. 'The confidence the team is regaining is one of our strengths. We're facing very tough opponents, but we stand out for our cohesion, hard work, and dedication,' he said.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s challenge, the UD Almería 'B' gaffer acknowledged the difficulty of the task: 'We'll have to run a lot and suffer to counter them, but we're prepared to fight for the victory. We've been working well during the week,' he added.
While UD Almería 'B' remain in the relegation zone at the bottom of the table, their recent upturn in form has given them hope of climbing out of the drop zone. Meanwhile, Club Atlético Antoniano sit in the upper mid-table and are aiming for a play-off spot.
In addition, the 'B' team will face Villarreal CF in the Spanish Cup next Wednesday, following their impressive first-round win over CD Castellón.
UD Almería Season-ticket holders will have free access to the match with their season card, while tickets will be available for general sale at €10.
