UD Almería B host CF Lorca Deportiva this Sunday
The UD Almería under-19s 'A' side travel to face Málaga CF Under-19s on Saturday in the División de Honor
UD Almería 'B' return to action this Sunday at 12 noon (local time) at the Anexo ground, where they will take on CF Lorca Deportiva in the first of two consecutive home fixtures as the season enters its final stretch in Group IV of the fourth-tier Segunda RFEF.
Following last weekend’s defeat away in Melilla, which confirmed their relegation to the fifth-fier Tercera RFEF, the youthful Rojiblancos now have only pride to play for. The team will be looking to bounce back and end a run of 5 matches without a win, having recorded 4 defeats and 1 draw in that period.
Their opponents, CF Lorca Deportiva, were promoted to the Segunda RFEF this season and also faced the UD Almería first team earlier in the campaign in the Spanish Cup opening Matchday. After spending time in the upper part of the table, the Murcia-based side now sit mid-table. They still have an outside chance of reaching the promotion play-offs with a strong finish, although a dip in form could also drag them closer to the relegation zone. For now, they remain in a relatively comfortable position with 5 games to go.
Meanwhile, due to the Easter break, there is no competitive action for the rest of the UDA Academy sides, except for the Under-19s 'A' competing in the División de Honor. They travel on Saturday (KO 12 noon) to face Málaga CF Under-19s at the Sports complex.
The hosts currently sit 4th in the standings, while the Almería lads are 8th. It promises to be a demanding fixture, and defeat could slightly complicate the visitors’ otherwise comfortable position in the table. With 6 matches still to play, UD Almería’s youth side, who have shown inconsistency throughout the season, will be aiming to find stability in this decisive phase of the campaign.
