UD Almería 'B' start 2026 determined to avoid the drop
The UD Almería youth team close out the first half of the season this Sunday in Lorca (KO 6pm) with 9 points clear of league safety
UD Almería 'B' resume competition in 2026 on Matchday 17, which will conclude the first half of the season. The Academy Rojiblancos are third from bottom in the standings, 9 points from safety, but are determined to do everything possible to avoid relegation. It all hinges on staging a major comeback. There's still time.
And this kicks off this Sunday with UD Almería 'B's match against Lorca Deportiva at 6pm at the Francisco Artés Carrasco Stadium; the same venue and opponents that UD Almería first team faced in the opening round of the Copa del Rey. Back then, newly-promoted Lorca, ñ were in the relegation zone; now they are in the upper part of the table.
After failing to win a single match in the first 6 match weeks, they then strung together 7 victories that propelled them into the promotion play-off places. They now sit in 6th place after finishing 2025 with two losses and a draw.
UD Almería 'B' changed head coaches on Matchday 10 and managed two draws and two wins. It seemed like a turnaround was underway, but they subsequently suffered several setbacks that complicated their situation once again.
With the start of 2026, UD Almería 'B' hope to put those early days behind them and start fresh.
