Nico Melamed: 'Teams coming to Almería will have a tough time'

The UD Almería attacking midfielder discusses the team's strong form, revenge against CD Castellón and his personal goals for the season

UD Almería’s attacking midfielder Nico Melamed has shared his thoughts on the team's recent good run and their upcoming challenge against CD Castellón. Reflecting on the current momentum, Melamed highlighted the importance of a collective effort and focus on day-to-day progress: ‘Our focus is on one game at a time. We have a cohesive group and when there are no egos, everything becomes easier.’

The 24-year-old also discussed the team’s resolve ahead of Sunday’s fixture, particularly the opportunity for revenge against last season’s 'black beast.' UD Almería’s two defeats to CD Castellón in the previous campaign left a mark, but Melamed is determined to turn the page: ‘We’re on high alert, as always. Teams need to know that anyone who comes to our home is going to have a tough time.’

Reflecting on the previous losses to the Orellut team, Melamed admitted the sting of conceding too many goals but pointed to lessons learned: ‘In the first leg, we could’ve scored many goals, yet we still lost. It was a difficult moment, but also a time to learn and grow.’

Looking ahead, the Castelldefels native expressed confidence in the team’s attacking cohesion. ‘Up front, we understand each other perfectly. Even though we work hard during the week, when you bring so much quality together on the pitch, it just clicks,’ he said.

The UD Almería attacking midfielder aims to maintain consistency this season, building on his strong finish to last year after a period of discomfort: ‘I want to be consistent and contribute at my maximum to help my team achieve our goals.’
