Rubi: 'The team showed real heart to win the match'

The UD Almería head coach spoke highly of his team's victory, which was severely weakened by injuries. The gaffer emphasised: 'We should be proud of my players. We won through courage, grit and determination'

'The team showed real heart to take the 3 points,' this is how Rubi summarised UD Almería's match against Granada CF and what had been the key to starting 2026 with a victory of paramount importance to the Rojiblancos' aspirations.

'We were in a very difficult situation due to injuries and on top of that, it became even more complicated due to Pedro Fidel's injury. The players knew they had to give that extra push and fight until the final whistle and they did. We should be proud of them,' he added.

When analysing the match, the Catalan indicated: 'Granada CF were more comfortable than us in the first half, although the clearest chances were ours. Then, in the second period, we were somewhat better, adding that the 3-2 penalty score could be misleading because my team could've won more comfortably.'
