Rubi: 'FC Cartagena aren't just any team; we're in the same division'
UD Almería head coach Rubi warns that the next adversaries are 'great players who have good tactics to do harm.' He truly hopes to extend his team's unbeaten streak
UD Almería head coach Rubi has looked ahead to Saturday's match against Segunda division bottom-team FC Cartagena. He does not take the next adversaries for granted since as he believes 'both of us compete in the same division and there are moments in which one can perform better or worse so we must not be overconfident.'
'FC Cartagena aren't just any team, they're very good players with good tactics to do harm. Their head coach likes good handling of the ball, taking the initiative… We must continue showing that we're improving defensively, although we still have room for more improvement. We must maintain the good team dynamic from the last few weeks, in which 13 of the 15 points have been added,' he explained.
'We cannot forget where we come from because it's cost us a lot to reverse the situation and it'll continue to cost us from now on,' the Catalan added. With the FC Cartagena match, UD Almería begin a packed calendar with mid-week fixtures while the Spanish Cup tournament journey goes on. When asked about it, the gaffer responded: 'I'm happy that it's coming to us now because we're doing well in all aspects. Only Robertone is out due to injury, there are not many players with one yellow card away from missing the next game. The players' physical fitness is good…'
The Vilassar de Mar native was also asked about the squad rotations and he made himself clear: 'We go game by game. After FC Cartagena we'll see how the players are and we'll turn our attention to the next game against Córdoba CF, then Granada CF and so on.'
