UD Almería and Málaga CF to battle for promotion to LaLiga EA Sports

The decisive two-legged play-off final kicks off at La Rosaleda Stadium before returning to Almería, with a place in Spain’s top flight at stake

UD Almería now know their opponents for the promotion play-off final: Málaga CF. The Malaguistas secured their place in the decisive tie on Wednesday night after overcoming UD Las Palmas in the semi-finals, one day after UD Almería booked their own spot by eliminating CD Castellón.

The result sets up an all-Andalusian showdown for a place in Spain’s top flight. The first leg will be played on Sunday, 14 June at 9 pm Spanish Time at La Rosaleda Stadium, which was packed with nearly 30,000 supporters for Málaga CF’s semi-final clash against UD Las Palmas. The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, 20 June at 9pm Spanish Time, at the UD Almería Stadium.

After Racing de Santander and Deportivo de La Coruña secured automatic promotion by finishing first and second in LaLiga Hypermotion, the final promotion spot will now be contested by third-placed UD Almería and fourth-placed Málaga CF.

The two sides shared victories during the regular season. Málaga CF won 2-1 at La Rosaleda, with Sergio Arribas scoring UD Almería’s goal from the penalty spot, while the Rojiblancos responded with a thrilling 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture at the UD Almería Stadium.

Excitement and drama are guaranteed across two highly anticipated matches, with promotion to LaLiga EA Sports on the line. Both clubs will be backed by passionate support, with travelling fans expected to fill the away sections and create a vibrant atmosphere in what promises to be a memorable Andalusian derby.
