UD Almería Women face tricky away test against Málaga CF Women 'B'
League table-toppers return after 2-week break knowing only victory will maintain their promotion push
UD Almería Women are back in action in Group IX of the Women’s Tercera RFEF this weekend, resuming their campaign with a demanding away fixture against Málaga CF Women 'B' on Matchday 17.
For the league table-toppers, however, it will be their 16th outing of the season, as one previous fixture was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Following that suspension and a scheduled break in the competition, the Rojiblancas return to action after a fortnight without competitive football.
The UDA girls travel to Málaga on Sunday for a 12 noon kick-off against a side firmly established in mid-table but formidable on home turf. Málaga CF Women 'B' have proven particularly reliable in front of their own fans, recording emphatic victories and even overcoming high-flying opposition such as Arenas de Armilla Women, Melilla CD Women and Atlético Ben-Namiel Women, currently second, third and fourth in the standings respectively.
UD Almería Women sit top of the table with a commanding 9-point advantage, yet this fixture represents a significant test of their credentials. Despite their healthy cushion in the group, there is little margin for error at this stage of the season.
Their broader objective, which is securing a place in the promotion play-off battle, hinges not only on domestic dominance but also on comparisons with the leaders of the other Andalusian group, Sevilla FC Women 'B', where the margins are far tighter.
Therefore, Sunday’s fixture is anything but routine. For UD Almería Women, it is another crucial step in a season that continues to demand focus, resilience and consistency.
