UD Almería attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas has expressed optimism about the Club’s ambitions for the upcoming season, emphasising the importance of both new signings and the support from fans at home. In an interview with the Club’s official media, the 23-year-old Madrid-born player discussed the squad's pre-season work and the team's goals for the 2025/26 campaign.
Arribas noted the quality and potential of the new arrivals, highlighting their blend of youth and experience. 'We have a mix of young players with a lot of potential and others with plenty of experience in the league,' he said.
The pre-season, he explained, has been demanding but crucial for the team's preparation: 'We started by focusing on physical fitness, which is vital, and now we're working more on tactics to integrate the new players into our style of play.'
The midfielder also highlighted the importance of the friendly matches, pointing out that the head coach is rotating the squad to ensure everyone is ready for the official season. 'We have 2 more tough friendlies ahead of us and the head coach is giving all players the opportunity to prove themselves,' Arribas added.
Entering his third season at UD Almería, Arribas is already regarded as a leader in the attacking set-up. When asked about his relationship with head coach Rubi, he confirmed: 'Yes, we spoke at the beginning of pre-season, but it’s a private conversation between us.'
Looking ahead to the new campaign, Arribas expressed his excitement and confidence in the team’s enormous potential. 'I’m super excited and confident that we can achieve our goal. We want to play in the top flight. The league will be tough, with teams like CD Leganés, UD Las Palmas and Real Valladolid all gunning for promotion,' he said.
Regarding the challenges of LaLiga Hypermotion, Arribas emphasised the unpredictable nature of the competition. 'In this league, anyone can surprise you, as we saw with CD Mirandés. We must be solid from the off, especially in our home games, and secure points with the backing of our fans,' he concluded.
