Lopy: UD Almería have an ambitious project and it's an ideal Club to continue growing
Lopy and Arribas, who have been officially presented by UD Almería Managing Director Mohamed El Assy, agree that they are joining a great club to become better footballers
UD Almería Managing Director Mohamed El Assy has officially presented two of the new signings made by the Club last week and that they had the opportunity to make their debut against Rayo Vallecano: Senegalese Dion Lopy, moving from the Stade from Reims, and Madrid-born Sergio Arribas, coming from Real Madrid CF.
The UD Almería CEO welcomed both footballers and wished them the best of luck in this journey as Rojiblancos. The two players are 21 years old and operate in the midfield. While Lopy is more of a defensive midfielder, Arribas is more of an attacking midfielder. They agreed to point out their reasons for signing for UD Almería as they rejected other offers. Their arguments were the following: 'The ambitious project of the Club, which is ideal to continue growing as footballers,' at the same time that they come to help and contribute to achieve the objectives.
Dion Lopy occupies a lot of space in the midfield, and in this sense, he commented: 'I'm very physical and I also like to play the ball. I can play where the head coach needs me or required by the time of the match. I consider myself as a defensive midfielder, but with abilities to distribute the ball further up the field.' He knows former Rojiblanco El Bilal Touré well 'who spoke to me very well about the Club and I didn't think twice.' He is of the opinion that there are no big differences between French and Spanish football, although he underlined: 'In the minutes that I played against Rayo Vallecano I was able to verify that here there's a higher speed of play.'
Then, Sergio Arribas stressed: 'I really wanted to make the leap to the Primera Division' and although he had received different offers from other clubs, he didn't think twice to sign for UD Almería. 'I talked a lot with João Gonzalves and also with head coach Vicente Moreno, and I knew that here I can grow as a footballer because they give many opportunities to young people, apart from the ambitious project.'
In addition, as the Madrid-born added: 'It's a family club and a welcoming city, which I've been able to notice in the first week that I've been here.' Although he can play in any attacking position, playing as a No.10 player is his best option, just behind the forward line.'
Real Madrid CF are visiting the Power Horse Stadium on Saturday, 'a game that will be very special for me because I've spent 11 years in that club.' When asked how the match can be won, Arribas replied: 'We have to do very well in all aspects and above all, be very solid at the back.'
