UD Almería work up a sweat!

The summer pre-season officially kicks off with a 2-hour first training session. New faces on and off the pitch. Salva Sevilla appointed new team manager

UD Almería officially kicked off pre-season this Monday with their first training session of the summer in the evening. The Rojiblancos, who underwent medicals this morning, began their preparation journey to reach their peak level for the start of the LaLiga Hypermotion.

It will be a month of fast-paced work, which started with a physical session on the Anexo training ground. This first training day saw the reunion of players who were on loan last season, with the likes of Embarba, Peña, and Quintanilla, and the presentation of the 5 new faces who have joined the squad as new signings.

The players completed a warm-up session in the gym before heading off to their first on-pitch summer session. Some members stayed inside the training facilities with a specific plan. The coaching staff designed a circuit training with extensive strength work-outs, which characterised this 2-hour practice. Towards the end of the day, head coach Rubi organised a small-sided game in one half of the pitch.

The presence of former player Salva Sevilla, the new team manager has been the highlight. Idrisu Baba, increasingly close to fully recovering from last year's severe injury, was exercising with the football rehabilitation specialist.

This 2025/26 pre-season will be shorter than usual following the promotion play-off games and this will further condense this arduous start-up cycle for the team. This Tuesday, the squad will have another training session before beginning their first double-day work-outs.
