UD Almería remain play-off spots after Matchday 39

The Rojiblancos sit 6th, 3 points ahead of Granada CF, who lost to SD Eibar yesterday, and 4 points ahead of SD Huesca

UD Almería remain in the promotion play-off spots after Matchday 39. They sit 6th, keeping a 3-point lead over Granada CF, who lost at home to SD Eibar yesterday, and 4 points ahead of SD Huesca. This is a step forward with just 3 matches remaining in the regular season.

Ahead of the Rojiblancos are Real Oviedo, 4 points behind, and Rubi's men next rivals are Racing de Santander, who are 4th with a 5-point lead, and third-ranked CD Mirandés, who have 6 points ahead of the Indálicos.

Following UD Almería's unfair defeat in Cádiz at the start of the Matchday, we had to wait until Monday and the Granada CF match to see where they stood in the standings. Granada lost 2-0, with assists from Almeria-born Antonio Puertas and goals from former UDA player Jose Corpas and Guruceta, and everything remains virtually unchanged, although with one Matchday left until the end of the LaLiga Hypermotion season.

Now, UD Almería have another opportunity to take a huge step forward if they win next Sunday at home against Real Racing Club of Santander, which could close the gap by 3 points and move to just 2 points behind, while remaining 3 points ahead of Granada CF, who will visit Deportivo de La Coruña. Incidentally, the Cantabria side and Granadinistas will face each other on the final Matchday at El Sardinero, an important fixture to keep in mind.
