UD Almería rally together for final push

The Rojiblancos continue preparations for Sunday’s clash against Real Sporting de Gijón, targeting 3 points before turning their attention to final fixture against Real Valladolid

UD Almería, who suffered a setback in their bid for automatic promotion to LaLiga EA Sports last Saturday, have reacted positively to the blow and closed ranks ahead of Sunday’s decisive encounter against Real Sporting de Gijón at El Molinón-Enrique Castro 'Quini' stadium.

The objective is clear: take all 3 points and then await the result of Deportivo de La Coruña’s match in Valladolid. Should Dépor share the spoils or lose, the battle for automatic promotion will go down to the final fixture of the regular season.

If the Galicia outfit win, they will seal promotion to the top flight. Even so, UD Almería remain fully focused on their own path, preparing to approach the promotion play-offs in the strongest possible position.

Unity within the squad has become a key theme in recent days, as Rodrigo Ely stressed during his press conference, while securing 3rd place would also hand the Andalusians home advantage in the play-offs.

Promotion through the play-offs still leads to Spanish football’s top tier and the squad’s sense of togetherness and determination remains stronger than ever.

For now, nothing has been decided and the Rojiblancos still believe in automatic promotion. Sporting de Gijón, currently sitting in mid-table, have already started planning for next season with the appointment of a new head coach and discussions over potential arrivals and departures. However, once the match kicks off, the Asturias side will be fully committed to ending their home campaign on a positive note in front of their fans and making a strong impression on their new gaffer.

As UD Almería head coach Rubi recently warned: 'Nobody is going to hand us any gifts in Gijón.'

Behind closed doors at the UD Almería Stadium, the Rojiblancos continue their preparations fully aware of the challenge awaiting them at the El Molinón-Enrique Castro 'Quini,' the importance of the occasion and the footballing quality they possess to return to the elite whether by the shortest route or the longest. The destination remains the same.
