UD Almería back in action ahead of a demanding test against CD Leganés
The Rojiblancos prepare for Saturday's game with a Leganés side eager to make a statement
UD Almería returned to work on Wednesday after enjoying a day off, holding a training session at the Stadium to begin preparations for Matchday 15. The Rojiblancos visit CD Leganés on Saturday for a 6:30pm kick-off, with both teams sharing the same long-term goal: earning promotion back to the Primera. UD Almería arrive in superb form, unbeaten in their last 8 outings, with their only defeat since early September coming away to Valladolid.
Meanwhile, CD Leganés have struggled for consistency. Despite their irregular campaign, they are coming off a valuable win in Ceuta and see UD Almería's visit as an opportunity to reassert themselves. Their home record has been poor, with just one win, 2 draws and 3 defeats, making them the second-worst home side in the division. Even so, the Pepineros remain only 3 points off the promotion play-offs, albeit with several teams in their way. All of this sets up a demanding challenge for UD Almería, who return to the Butarque for the first time since their dramatic promotion to LaLiga EA Sports on 29 May 2022.
Head coach Rubi continues to monitor the fitness of several recovering players, including Léo Baptistão, while also assessing the returning internationals. The squad will be without Chumi, sidelined through injury and Lopy, suspended. The Rojiblancos will train behind closed doors on both Thursday and Friday before travelling to Madrid.
