UD Almería aim to end 2025 on a high with Málaga CF derby
Recovery session kicks off final preparations ahead of Sunday's La Rosaleda showdown
UD Almería returned to training after their disappointing home defeat to Burgos CF, starting the week with a recovery session. The Rojiblancos are now focused on preparing for their final match of 2025, a crucial derby against Málaga CF at La Rosaleda Stadium on Sunday, 21 December (Matchday 19).
Head coach Rubi addressed his squad on the Anexo pitch before they began their workout. The session saw most of the team participating, with the exception of Soko, who is away on international duty with Cameroon for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Bonini and Nico Melamed, both sidelined due to injuries, headed to the medical room and gym for their rehabilitation, along with Robertone and Selvi, who are managing minor knocks.
The players who featured heavily in the defeat to Burgos CF focused on stretching and recovery inside the UD Almería Stadium, while the rest of the squad trained at a higher intensity on the pitch. A notable return to the squad is Nelson Monte, who is available once again after serving his one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation.
After a scheduled day off on Tuesday, UD Almería will shift their focus to tactical preparations for the derby in Málaga.
With the disappointment of the Burgos CF defeat still fresh, the Rojiblancos are eager to finish 2025 on a positive note. A win would keep their promotion hopes alive, moving them closer to the top of the table and maintaining the pressure on rivals like Racing de Santander, Deportivo de La Coruña and UD Las Palmas.
