UD Almería rely on 12th Man support as they host Granada CF amidst key absences

The Rojiblancos aim for victory to kickstart 2026, despite depleted squad

UD Almería will look to turn the page on a tough finish to 2025 when they host Granada CF this Saturday in a crucial derby to kickstart their 2026 campaign. With a number of key players unavailable, the team's supporters, known as the '12th Man,'will play a pivotal role in helping the Rojiblancos secure a much-needed win.

After ending 2025 with back-to-back defeats against Burgos CF and Málaga CF, UD Almería are eager to start the new year on the right foot. A victory would not only help erase the disappointment of those losses but also strengthen their position in the promotion race. Despite recent setbacks, the Indálicos remain tied with the third-placed side, just two points off automatic promotion, though they must remain wary of the pressure from rivals behind them.

However, the absence of several key players poses a significant challenge. Head coach Rubi highlighted that this is the most depleted squad he has faced, with injuries, viral infections, and other complications such as Thalys' visa issues and Soko's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations leaving the team shorthanded. Yet, Rubi remains determined, stating: 'We'll have to dig deep and fight tooth and nail to try and secure the 3 points. The end of 2025 was negative, but the start of the new year has to be positive.'

With the UDA fans' unwavering support crucial to overcoming these challenges, UD Almería will be counting on their passionate home crowd to help push them toward victory.
