UD Almería aim to keep home fortress intact

UD Las Palmas clash seen as crucial in promotion race, with the islanders potentially becoming unexpected allies

UD Almería are fully focused on Saturday’s key showdown against UD Las Palmas, kicking off at 6:30pm, as the LaLiga Hypermotion season enters its final 3 fixtures.

It will be the first of UD Almería’s last two home fixtures and their form at their Stadium offers real encouragement in the battle for automatic promotion. Rubi’s side are currently the strongest home team in the division, boasting eight consecutive victories and 50 goals scored on their own turf.

If they can maintain that momentum, automatic promotion to the top flight remains within reach. However, UD Almería are not entirely in control of their destiny, as Deportivo de La Coruña, level on points in second place, hold the head-to-head advantage.

Still, the message from the dressing room is clear: win their own matches and wait. Speaking to UDA Radio, UD Almería player Álex Muñoz stressed that they must focus on their own task, while expressing confidence that their rivals are unlikely to win every remaining fixture.

The Andalusian side are determined to keep asserting their dominance at home. Another win would not only strengthen their own push for promotion but could also turn UD Las Palmas into indirect allies. Following the Canarias side’s recent defeat in Andorra la Vella, another setback would damage their play-off hopes and leave them needing a result in the final round away against Dépor.

Preparation continues behind closed doors, with the gaffer having almost a full squad available. The only confirmed absentee is midfielder Dion Lopy, whose absence is a notable blow.

UD Las Palmas arrive as one of the division’s more cautious away sides, the 4th-lowest scorers on the road, but also the 4th-best defensive record away from home, making Saturday’s contest a potentially tight and decisive encounter.
