UD Almería raring to extend season in June

The Rojiblancos are back to training to fully focus on Sunday's last fixture against CD Tenerife, in which they will play for their qualification for the promotion play-offs. Nico Melamed is available for selection again

The final LaLiga Hypermotion Matchday will be played this Sunday, 1 June and most of the second-tier teams will go on holiday. However, UD Almería are raring to extend the season a little longer until 21 June, when the second leg of the final play-off for promotion to the top flight will be played, a position the Rojiblancos are aiming for.

For now, they need to secure their place in this promotion that leads to the top tier of Spanish football. They are currently in the promotion play-off because they sit 6th, but they need to confirm that on Sunday by beating CD Tenerife, who were relegated a few weeks ago.

The match will not be easy at all since the islanders are making things difficult for their rivals. That same Sunday and at the same time, 6:30pm Racing Santander vs Granada CF will be locking horns, which is a wild card for UD Almería. Depending on their result, they could draw against CD Tenerife or even lose, but they want to make it through the match without any surprises. To achieve all of this, the squad are now back to training after Tuesday's rest day.

From now on, all football practices will be held behind closed doors. Nico Melamed, who has already served his two-match suspension, is available for selection again and the only absence is Baba, who continues to recover from a severe injury. Head coach Rubi will also be able to sit in the dugout.
