UD Almería highlight strength of squad unity

The Rojiblancos break from routine with team-building games during unusual week ahead of Monday fixture

UD Almería have once again demonstrated the strength and unity within the squad, something repeatedly emphasised since the start of the season by head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer 'Rubi' and the players themselves in their media appearances.

Even those who arrived during the recent January transfer window have pointed to the same factor as key to settling quickly into the dressing room. This Thursday’s training session turned those words into action, confirming the excellent atmosphere and strong bond among the players, an element widely regarded within the Club as essential to achieving their objectives this season.

With UD Almería not back in action until Monday, when they host Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, the current week has taken on an unusual rhythm. 6 training sessions were scheduled and having reached the halfway point, Thursday’s practice was designed to break the usual routine.

Among several activities, players took part in team games led by the Club’s psychologist, Francisco Javier Fernández. Each exercise had its own purpose and objectives, with the outcome clear: the players returned to the dressing room smiling, having strengthened both their physical and mental resilience.

Three more training sessions now lie ahead, with the focus turning firmly to preparations for the match against Cultural Leonesa. Despite their opponents sitting in the relegation zone, the Indálicos are taking nothing for granted. As previously reported, the León-based side have produced solid results away from home this season, with 5 wins and 2 draws on their travels.

They have also recently changed head coach, a factor that can often bring unpredictability due to tactical adjustments and renewed motivation within a squad.

It is also worth recalling that UD Almería opened Matchday 28 of LaLiga Hypermotion away to Albacete Balompié on Friday, 27 February and will now bring Matchday 29 to a close on Monday night. Between those two fixtures, the Andalusian side will have experienced an unusually long 11-day gap, during which two full rounds of league fixtures will have been played.
