UD Almería Women await play-off opponents for promotion
The Rojiblancas will not return to action until 12 April after sealing the Tercera RFEF women's tier Group IX title with 3 games to spare
UD Almería Women, who were crowned Group IX league champions of the Tercera RFEF women's tier last weekend, will not compete again until 12 April, when they resume the league to play out the final 3 fixtures of the regular season. After that, attention will turn to the promotion play-offs to the Segunda RFEF, for which the girls are virtually qualified.
While waiting for the league campaign to conclude, Pedro López’s team will focus on preparing for the promotion stage and assessing potential opponents in their bid to move up. The tie will be played over two legs and decided by an open draw, with the winner securing promotion.
UD Almería Women have dominated the Andalusian groups, but the play-offs promise to be demanding and highly competitive. Many of the champions or potential champions from other groups are 'B' teams of clubs competing in higher divisions. This includes sides such as Barcelona C, Athletic Club C, Celta B, Oviedo B, Valencia B, Tenerife B and Osasuna B. Young, talented squads that could even be reinforced by players from their parent clubs.
There are also more experienced teams representing their cities, such as CD Ebro and Real Zaragoza, who are battling for top spot in their group, along with UD Logroñés, Villa de Simancas, Mallorca Internacional FC and Don Benito. In short, a series of very tough opponents await in the fight for promotion.
