SD Eibar’s defeat in Oviedo on Monday has sent the Rojiblancos to the top of the second-tier table, thanks to their superior goal difference over the Basque Country side
UD Almería are the new LaLiga Hypermotion leaders following the conclusion of Matchday 9. The Rojiblancos had gone to bed on Sunday in the automatic promotion places, sitting second in the table level on points with SD Eibar, who were in action away to Real Oviedo on Monday. SD Eibar’s defeat at the Carlos Tartiere stadium has allowed UD Almería to move into first place thanks to their superior goal difference. Both sides have 21 points, while CD Castellón, who also suffered defeat away to FC Andorra, sit 3rd on 20.
UD Almería have now caught up with the two teams who had previously set the pace, having recorded 6 consecutive league victories. The 3 sides have opened up a gap on the chasing pack, although there is still a long way to go in the campaign, as head coach Xavier García Pimienta emphasised in his press conference following the 3-0 victory over CD Leganés.
Whatever lies ahead, the Rojiblancos’ upward trajectory has been both impressive and eye-catching, with their place at the top of the league, testament to their outstanding form. UD Almería have won 7 of their 9 matches, including 6 in a row, kept 5 clean sheets and boast a perfect home record. They are the only team in the second division to have won every game on home turf.
After 2 consecutive fixtures at home, the Indálicos are back on the road this Saturday, when they take on Real Sociedad 'B'. The Sons of the Desert head into the next game on the back of away wins against Córdoba CF and RCD Mallorca, both secured during their current run of 6 back-to-back victories.
