UD Almería to discover Spanish Cup second-round opponents this Tuesday

Draw set for 1pm: The Rojiblancos could face a third-tier or second-tier team

UD Almería will find out their opponents for the second round of the Spanish Cup this Tuesday, with the draw scheduled to take place at 1pm. The Rojiblancos, who progressed to the second round after defeating fourth-tier CF Lorca Deportiva 2-0, will face a team from either the third-tier Primera RFEF or the second-tier LaLiga Hypermotion.

The second round will be played as single-legged ties on 2/3/4 December with the match taking place at the home ground of the club drawn first. According to tournament rules, UD Almería will not be drawn against top-tier LaLiga EA Sports teams, having already eliminated a fourth-tier side in the previous round.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) initially divided the participants into four groups based on geographical proximity for the first round, but the second-round draw will now be split into two groups, increasing the travel distances.

Potential Opponents for UD Almería

UD Almería could face one of several potential opponents in the second round. These include CD Tenerife, CD Guadalajara, Real Murcia CF, FC Cartagena, and even second-tier sides like Granada CF, Málaga CF, AD Ceuta FC, or CD Leganés. The Rojiblancos are placed in Group II, alongside 27 other teams.

Group II consists of eight top-tier teams from LaLiga EA Sports, which will be paired with six clubs from fourth-tier Segunda RFEF, one from fifth-tier Tercera RFEF, and one from third-tier Primera RFEF. Additionally, five teams from Primera RFEF will be drawn against five teams from LaLiga Hypermotion.

Group II Breakdown

In total, there are 7 teams from LaLiga Hypermotion in Group II, and two of them will be drawn to play each other. The second-tier teams include UD AlmeríaMálaga CFGranada CFCádiz CFAD CeutaCD Leganés, and Albacete Balompié any of which could be UD Almería's adversaries.

The Primera RFEF teams in this group that could potentially face UD Almería are Real Murcia CFFC CartagenaCD EldenseCD TenerifeCD Guadalajara, and CF Talavera de la Reina.

Teams UD Almería will not face

As for teams that UD Almería will definitely not encounter, these include top-flight sides such as Real BetisSevilla FCVillarreal CFValencia CFUD LevanteElche FCRayo Vallecano, and Getafe CF. Finally, the fifth-tier Tercera RFEF side Cieza CF is also out of the running for a potential draw with the Rojiblancos.
