The youthful Rojiblancos travel to the Los Olivos pitch on Sunday, with kick-off at 5pm, for a demanding derby clash
The first Almería derby of the season in Group IX of the Tercera RFEF sees two sides from the province meet at this level for the first time. UD Almería 'B' have dropped down from the Segunda RFEF, while CD Cantoria 2017 FC have stepped up from the División de Honor division. A relegated side and a promoted side will go head-to-head on Matchday 5, with kick-off at the Los Olivos pitch at 5pm on Sunday.
UD Almería 'B' sit 3rd in the table on 9 points, just 3 behind the leaders, having won 3 and lost one of their opening four games. Meanwhile, Cantoria currently occupy a relegation place, having picked up 2 points from home draws against Atlético Marbella and Atlético Malagueño. Away from home, they have suffered defeats to Porcuna and against Granada CF 'B'.
It promises to be a demanding test for UD Almería 'B'. As well as playing on a small artificial pitch, they will face a side determined to make it third time lucky at home and climb out of the relegation zone.
The two sides also met twice during pre-season. The first encounter, in Cantoria, ended in a narrow victory for the hosts, while the second came in the La Cañada Trophy, where UD Almería 'B' prevailed on penalties. Little separated the two sides.
Both teams know each other well and will be looking to catch their opponents off guard as they battle for all 3 points. Pablo Nozal’s side have the chance to strengthen their position near the top of the table and maintain their strong start to the campaign.
