UD Almería are stepping up preparations to face second-placed CD Mirandés this Friday (KO 8:30pm Spanish Time) on Matchday 19, the penultimate fixture of the year that closes out the first half of the competition. The next guests are two points ahead of the Rojiblancos in the LaLiga Hypermotion table. Furthermore, the 'Jabato' team, as the club from the Burgos-based town of Miranda de Ebro is also known, is the team with the fewest goals scored, so far in the competition. They have only conceded 13 goals in 18 games. They have won their last four games, winning away to Racing de Santander and CD Castellón. A week ago, they came back from behind against Levante UD.
As a result this Friday's clash is a real challenge for UD Almería, who are eager to continue extending their unbeaten streak -7 wins and 2 draws- to 10 games. The objective is obviously to win and snatch second place from CD Mirandés with automatic promotion and be very close to leaders Racing de Santander.
Rubi, in the pre-Mirandés press conference, highly valued being able to pick up the three points because it would be a major coup, and a huge step in their aspirations since although it is true that there is a lot of season left, the step that would be taken would be gigantic.
UD Almería have registered three absences, which are very significant and all of them directly affect the midfield. These are injured Robertone, who could be available for selection when the competition resumes in 2025, Gui Guedes, who recently underwent surgery for the fifth metatarsal fracture in his left foot and also Baba, who has said goodbye to the season due to his serious injury.
Head coach Rubi has 18 players available from the first team plus the UD Almería 'B' foursome who are training on a regular basis with the first team members. This Thursday, the Rojiblancos held a final training session behind closed doors at the Stadium to finish preparing for this tough-looking clash.
