UD Almería just two points off the top
The defeat suffered by current table-toppers Racing de Santander against SD Huesca and the Rojiblancos' spectacular run of results place them in a comfortable position in the LaLiga Hypermotion table
UD Almería have once again placed themselves in automatic promotion positions to the top flight once the Matchday 19 has been completed, the penultimate of the first half of the season and also of 2024.
There are only two games to go to reach the halfway point of the competition, fixtures that will be played in Ferrol on Wednesday and against Cádiz CF on Sunday, and the Rojiblancos have placed themselves in a VIP situation. The defeat suffered by Racing de Santander at home against SD Huesca and the Rojiblancos' spectacular run of results means that UD Almería are only two points off the top. The Cantabrian side have 37 points and UD Almería 35. CD Mirandés, third, have obtained 35, while Real Oviedo (fourth) have earned 32. Elche CF and Levante UD have 30 points and SD Huesca, first out of the play-off zone, find themselves with 29.
The Indálicos could be leaders temporarily on Wednesday, although for this reason they have to beat Racing Club de Ferrol at A Malata Stadium. Racing de Santander play on Thursday in Elche. Rubi always says that his team faces their opponents when they really are in a good place, which is what is going to happen this week because the Ferrolanos have beaten Sporting de Gijón 1-3 and are three points away from safety.
Whatever happens on Wednesday, there is no doubt about UD Almería's spectacular reaction in the league. On Matchday 9 on 13th October, they were second to last with 9 points. Racing de Santander were at the top with 20. Two months later, Rubi's team are second, two behind the pacesetters, and they are on a 10-game unbeaten streak with 8 wins and 2 draws, 26 of the 30 points at stake. They are the top scoring team in Segunda and continue to improve week after week.
