Rubi: 'The draw is praiseworthy after trailing 2-nil at half-time'

The UD Almería head coach considered the point scored at El Sardinero Stadium to be good enough because of the rivals' potential and because the way it had happened

UD Almería head coach Rubi gave a post-Santander press conference to analyse the development of the first league fixture and did not hesitate to state: 'The draw is praiseworthy after trailing 2-0 at half-time and also because of the opponents' potential in front of us and the pitch on which we've played, which is always very difficult, something we've been insisting on during the week.'

'We came here to win, but I consider the final result positive because we were able to face an adverse situation and we didn't give up at any time,' explained the Vilassar de Mar native. He also considered it 'fair' from what he saw on the pitch. The UD Almería gaffer stressed: 'We've seen a great version of Racing,' and then explained that 'my feeling is that we started very well in the game, in fact in the first minutes we created clear chances. We reached the break, we moved some pieces and I reckon it has refreshed and has been good. We had the resources to continue engineering scoring chances.'

'What worried me most was the end of the first half; on the counter-attack and with the ball they dominated us a lot. We have things to improve and adjust,' Rubi highlighted.

'This is a sport in which you cannot throw in the towel at any time. It's been seen that both teams have tried their hardest until the end and it's been a nice match to watch,' the Catalan head coach concluded.
