Building fitness through football

Quim Junyent joins García Pimienta's squad as UD Almería complete their first double training day with football and fitness going hand in hand

UD Almería completed their first double training day of pre-season, the first of two scheduled this week, with Quim Junyent joining full team training as the main talking point. Once again, every session revolved around the ball, although the physical workload remains a key objective behind each exercise.

Head coach García Pimienta and his coaching staff have stayed true to the approach introduced from day one at the Club's training ground. A varied programme of drills, small-sided games and finishing exercises has kept the ball at the centre of every activity. The new gaffer is demanding constant movement, intelligent positioning and quick decision-making, while ensuring the squad continues to build the fitness levels required for the season ahead through football-based training.

Having completed his medical examinations, Quim Junyent trained alongside his new team-mates for the first time and became another available option for the head coach. So far, UD Almería's biggest pre-season wish has also been fulfilled, with no players sidelined through injury.

The squad will return for another session later this afternoon before continuing preparations on Wednesday morning, when training resumes at 9:30am.
