Akieme: We must keep calm and not get frustrated

The UD Almería left-back says that they are failing in the areas. Although the team is playing well, the results are negative. He reckons everything is a matter of work to improve

'We must keep calm and not get frustrated,' are the keys according to UD Almería left-back Sergio Akieme since the Rojiblancos are well aware of the mistakes that have prevented them from winning games so far. 'We're failing in the areas and although we're playing well, the results are negative. It's a matter of work to improve because they are just small details,' the defender explained.

The 25-year-old footballer looked ahead to Saturday's home match against Valencia CF and in his opinion: 'We're not playing worse than any rivals; on the contrary, we dominate in many spells, but if we end up losing, it's for a reason. You may be lucky or not, but you can always try your luck. As I said, they're small details in the boxes that we have to correct and we're working on it.'

'The game against Valencia CF is going to be very tough, but like everyone in Primera Division, we must have confidence in ourselves because we do many things well. This Saturday, we have to be the best version of ourselves to avoid mistakes,' Akieme commented.

Then, the interviewee stressed: 'We're one of the teams that creates the most threatening situations in attack, and this is essential. The effectiveness is a matter of streaks and therefore, we have to keep on trying, but without getting frustrated because then things won't work out for us.'

On the other hand, the Madrid-born Equatoguinean explained: 'The head coach always tries to get the most out of us [players] and I'm feeling well; we have to continue on the same track. The team is now adapting to so many changes in the squad, which complicates the beginning by not knowing each other.'

The Rojiblanco is on fire this campaign as he has already scored two stunning goals. When questioned about this, Akieme said: 'Individually, I'd never had this eye for goals. Although I always try to do my best to contribute to the group. I don't set myself scoring goals because I didn't expect to net two on Matchday 5 either. My goal is to contribute to the group and after, we'll see how far I can go.'

On social networks, there has been a debate about who is the best left-back in the history of UD Almería, and the most voted player, by far, has been Akieme. 'It's an honour that people think like that because I know that good things have happened. Now, I'm on a roll and I'm trying to make the most of it,' he assured.

Finally, the former Spain U19 international was asked what he would say to the fans, who are getting impatient about victories. Akieme pointed out: 'I'd like to ask our fans to be patient, even if it's difficult. I feel that we can dominate all the rivals and we get frustrated when we see that we lose. It's important not to see ourselves outclassed.'
