Rubi: 'I still don't trust my team; I want them to keep up the good work'
The UD Head coach considers that the group is stronger, has gained strength and has improved their attacking, although this must be confirmed. He talks about Albacete Balompié's might
'I still don't trust my team; I want my players to keep up the good work,' stated UD Almería head coach Rubi as he looked ahead to Thursday's match against Albacete Balompié at the UD Almería Stadium (KO 7pm Spanish Time). 'I'm very happy because of the victory in Zaragoza, in addition to boosting our morale, has reinforced us in aspects on which we were working. The group is stronger and at La Romareda, they were more effective both in defence and attack, apart from putting in a better attacking display,' he explained.
The Catalan gaffer wants to maintain that step forward that has been taken from now on. So much so that the Rubi pointed out: 'We must get good loot in this period of consecutive games.' We have started with Real Zaragoza and we want to do well against Albacete Balompié, SD Huesca, Sanse in the Spanish Cup and Córdoba CF. It will be like the real proof to check if UD Almería are ready to go at a steady, comfortable speed.
'The level of the second tier this season is extraordinary and we're going to take many points away from each other. There is higher competitiveness than ever, so after achieving several wins on the bounce, we must go ahead,' he said.
For now, the goal is Albacete Balompié, who were praised by the UD Almería head coach: 'They almost always score and come off playing a very good game against Burgos CF. They have talent in the midfield when they're in possession of the ball and the full-backs do very well in attack. Nor should we forget the strategy, so we have to be very careful.'
The Vilassar de Mar native shared another key to success this Thursday: 'We expect opponents who will look for the counter-attack and we must press after ball loss, finish plays and ultimately, be extremely focused.' Rubi gave the press conference just before the last training session prior to the match against the Albacetistas. Now, when I talk to the players, I'm going to insist that we cannot lower the level of commitment and solidarity when we don't have the ball because this way they'll create fewer chances.'
