De la Hoz: ‘The home points are going to be decisive to meet the objective’

The 29-year-old co-captain states ‘the calculator is wrong every week; the only thing that works is to go game by game’

Unión Deportiva Almería co-captain César de la Hoz previewed the next match on UDA Radio and Dipalme Radio: ‘We know how CD Lugo play and what their strengths are. I don't think it’ll change their approach to the match. We have to be strong at home because the points we score as hosts will be key this season’ he explained at the same time that he indicated that emotionally they are still strong: ‘We didn't deserve the result that we obtained in Zaragoza but the details turn around games. ‘We’re okay despite the other day’s defeat. We know that this is difficult and that winning away from home in the second half of the competition is more complicated. What we do have to try is to correct those costly mistakes and the points will stay at home to pick up three at a time.’

De la Hoz avoids any speculation in the medium term and highly recommends the team keep on their toes and focus on the present: ‘Every Monday, everything changes. The calculator is wrong every week, so the only thing that works is to go game by game. Both teams will be evenly-matched and the only sure thing is that we’ll have to fight to death until the very last minute. There’s still a long way to go and promotion is in our hands. Against all odds, we’ll keep on fighting to earn promotion.’

The 29-year-old midfielder talked about his injured team-mates who will not be able to help in this final stretch of the 2021/22 season: ‘We could be in their shoes at any time. We can only show them all our support so that they recover soon and well. They know they can count on us.’
