Daniel Carriço back on his feet in collective training

The Portuguese sustained a hamstring injury at the beginning of November in Gijón. Sadiq returns to training with his team-mates

UD Almeria centre-back Daniel Carriço has been the main focus of attention during the resumption of training sessions this week. The team have begun preparing themselves ahead of Friday’s fixture against islanders UD Ibiza. Kick-off at the Mediterraneo will be at 9pm Spain Time. It is the fifth game of the second half of the championship (Matchday 26).

The Portuguese footballer picked up an injury on 2nd November during the first minutes of the match played against Sporting de Gijón at El Molinón Stadium. Carriço suffered a hamstring tear injury which has kept him on the ‘treatment table’ for 3 months. After the medical staff gave him the all-clear, the 33-year-old player began to train normally with the squad this Tuesday morning.

The presence of Carriço has been the real highlight of Tuesday’s practice, but not the only one… Sadiq Umar, after participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, is now back in the office along with the Rojiblancos. The striker has been on international duty since the Christmas holidays; he returned from Nigeria and exercised on the sidelines last Friday, while last Sunday, he joined the players who got less minutes in action or did not play at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium. Chumi, got rid of his stomachache, has also met the rest of his team-mates for training.

Meanwhile, Lazo and Dyego Sousa are nearing the end of their respective recoveries so they will soon find out whether or not they are ready to join collective training.

UD Almería have begun to prepare for Friday's game aiming to get back to winning ways and bounce back from adversity to wrap up their first victory of 2022. The squad will partake in two more behind-closed-doors training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday to flesh out details and practise the tactical drills that will be put into practice this Friday at home against adversaries who got a new head coach bounce.
