García Pimienta's new UD Almería project gets underway on Monday, with the squad reporting for medical tests
The countdown is over. UD Almería officially begin preparations for the 2026/27 season on Monday as Xavier García Pimienta takes charge of his first pre-season at the helm of the Rojiblancos.
From early Monday morning, the players will report for their routine medicals before returning to the training pitch to begin work ahead of the new campaign.
The squad resumes training just 3 weeks after the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, following the Club's involvement in the promotion play-offs. With the new season set to kick off on 15 or 16 August, the Rojiblancos have around 6 weeks to prepare. The team will travel to Marbella on 31 July for their traditional pre-season training camp.
So far this summer, UD Almería have strengthened the squad with the arrivals of winger Brian Cipenga, who represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the FIFA World Cup; midfielder Quim Junyent, a product of FC Barcelona's academy and the newly crowned UEFA European Under-19 champion with Spain; centre-back Jorge Pulido and wide player Álex Sola, who spent last season at Granada CF.
In addition, the Club have extended Léo Baptistão's contract by one year and exercised the purchase options to secure the permanent signings of Miguel de la Fuente and André Horta.
