2-5: CD Castellón thrash hapless UD Almería
The Rojiblancos suffered the second consecutive defeat in a match that they were able to roar back in the first half. In the second, the guests proved their shooting accuracy and creativity in the final third to bag the three points
UD Almería suffered their second consecutive defeat. After losing the previous fixture to CD Eldense, this time they did so against CD Castellón in a scandalous way: 2-5! The Rojiblancos could... and should have, put the match back on track in the first half. In the second, they also had their options, but the guests had many more, who not only showed their shooting accuracy, but also made their presence known in the opponents' goal.
Head coach Rubi made two changes with respect to the previous Matchday as he brought on Edgar in the midfield, once he had recovered from his muscle discomfort, leaving Lopy on the bench. The gaffer also opted for UD Almería 'B' striker Rachad, given the last minute absence of Leo Baptistao, due to injury.
UD Almería faced the match with the objective of regaining victory and at the same time, achieving their first victory at home. This circumstance, after the narrow defeat experienced in Elda, became an obligation in order not to remain stuck in the table. A brave and attacking adversary if there ever was one. This league event was extremely demanding for the Indálicos.
Rubi's side were superior to the Orelluts throughout the opening half; so much so that they created a hatful of chances to go into the break with the match on track, but went down the tunnel with a very tough 0-1; goal by Raúl Sánchez inside 43 minutes. It was practically CD Castellón's only opportunity.
On the other hand, striker Luis Suárez could have scored in the 3rd minute; Arribas in the 4th; Nico Melamed, who hit the crossbar while taking a free-kick, in the 18th; he was also close to scoring a goal in the 19th and 20th minutes; Luis Suárez wasted another chance again after 25 minutes and Robertone 30 minutes in. Just unbelievable!
UD Almería had known how to play against visitors CD Castellón, weaken their strengths and tactics and clearly show their own vertical and attacking football that did not, once again, have its fair reward on the scoreboard.
The vibes brought were good and there was confidence in the reaction in the second period, however things were hard, very hard, for UD Almería. The Rojiblancos kept coming up, creating danger, but they didn't hit the target. CD Castellón put Maximiano's reflexes to the test by showing their bravery, but unlike the Indálicos, their effectiveness was accurate.
The 0-2 score, in the 61st minute, completely took the team out of the game. It is true that they continued fighting fiercely and trying their hardest to block the quick transitions of the visitors, who in the 69th minute made it 0-3. Rubi's men pulled one back courtesy of Nico Melamed, but the guests put themselves in front again and again, despite Suárez converted from 12 yards on 80 minutes (2-4), until this nightmare ended with a scandalous 2-5.
