Creating cool defenders and promoting teamwork

UD Almería continue stepping it up a gear ahead of the return of the second tier championship

Almería continue stepping up preparations ahead of the return of the second tier championship, and thus the Rojiblancos are already training adopting a focused and methodical approach to face their next match with the best possible guarantees. UD Almeria’s first fixture has been scheduled for Sunday, 14th June (7:30 p.m.). The team are taking on Albacete at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium.

It should be noted that in this Wednesday's session, the defenders took to the Anexo training ground to partake in positional training. The aim was to work as a unit to control the game at the back by providing them with defensive practical skills so as to boost their self-confidence in different defensive situations.

While the centre-backs and full-backs were exercising in one part of the pitch, the other team-mates were practising other drills that are vital pieces to the game such as possession and ball control. Soon after, they all played small-sided games in order to improve their high-intensity performance, prefect their passing and receiving technique and show their ability to pressure... Previously there was also some time for fitness work. All of the players are available apart from Barbero. The Roquetas de Mar-born centre-forward did not train as he was feeling a little discomfort.
