Rubi: 'With the effort my team put in, we deserved a draw'
The UD Almería head coach described the defeat as 'very painful because it came with the last ball.' The gaffer is convinced of a comeback because, as he emphasised: 'We're very eager to redeem ourselves.'
'With the effort my team put in, we deserved a draw,' stressed UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' in the post-Eibar press conference at the Ipurúa Stadium.
'For us, this 1-0 defeat is very painful because it came with the last ball and after a series of rebounds. It’s clear that we suffered because of the intensity SD Eibar bring, but we matched them in that aspect. What we have to do is get over this as quickly as possible and think about AD Ceuta FC, approaching the match with the intention of redeeming ourselves because we all want to win now,' he explained.
Despite UD Almería's recent form, Rubi is confident his team will bounce back: 'I have absolutely no doubt.'
Returning to the match at Ipurúa, the Catalan explained: 'It was a hard-fought game for both teams, with many duels. We started better but lacked the composure to hold onto the ball in the box and finish off the chances we created. Then, they had their opportunities and dominated us. In the second half, we had more possession and didn't concede too many chances, but then came that set-piece at the end that decided the game, unfortunately for us.'
