Bonini welcomed back with a playful guard of honour
The Italian centre-back returns to group training as UD Almería prepare for tough trip to Ipurúa
Federico Bonini was the focus of a warm and playful welcome at UD Almería’s training session on Tuesday as the Italian central defender edged closer to a return from injury. The centre-back completed a significant portion of the session alongside his team-mates, receiving the traditional guard of honour reserved for players returning from injury or becoming dads.
Bonini has been sidelined since December after suffering a hamstring injury in Andorra, an issue that has ruled him out of the last 5 league fixtures. His partial reintegration into group work marks the final stages of his recovery, although he finished the session working separately with the rehabilitation specialist, alongside Chumi.
The only player absent from the pitch was Lopy, who remains on medical leave. Meanwhile, the rest of the UD Almería squad began preparations for their upcoming away fixture against SD Eibar at Ipurúa.
The coaching staff focused the session on one-on-one situations, second balls and decisiveness, fully aware of the challenges posed by SD Eibar in these key areas.
The Rojiblancos will continue their preparations on Wednesday ahead of Matchday 23, hoping to have as many players available as possible. However, Lopy and Chumi remain doubts, while Chirino will miss the trip through suspension.
