UD Almería step up preparations for Girona FC match

The Rojiblancos are leaving no stone unturned ahead of a major clash against the former top-tier side

UD Almería, who are preparing for their third consecutive away fixture, are stepping up their preparations for Sunday's trip to Girona, fully aware of the challenge that awaits them against a former LaLiga EA Sports side.

UD Almería completed their 3rd training session on Thursday at the Anexo training ground, with the squad leaving no detail to chance as they fine-tune their preparations for the clash against Girona FC.

Head coach Xavier García Pimienta and his coaching staff still have 2 training sessions remaining to put the finishing touches to their game plan. Girona FC, meanwhile, are competing in the second tier this season after spending 4 consecutive campaigns in the top flight, including one memorable season in which they finished 3rd in the top tier.

It will also be UD Almería's third successive match on the road, with Matchday 13 bringing a familiar opponent back into their path. Sunday's encounter, scheduled for 4:15pm Spanish Time will mark the 25th meeting between the two sides. Girona FC are, in fact, the 15th most frequently faced opponent in UD Almería's history.

García Pimienta will put his squad through a full rehearsal on Friday before the team complete their final training session on Saturday and then travel to Girona.

Meanwhile, Chirino, who has missed the last 2 matches, continued working separately with the rehabilitation staff.

The focus is firmly on the Catalans, as the Rojiblancos look to deliver a strong performance and come away with a positive result.
