Chumi faces extended lay-off after suffering grade II ankle sprain

The 26-year-old UD Almería centre-back has been sidelined for several weeks following injury in Córdoba CF match last weekend

UD Almería have confirmed that centre-back Juan Brandariz 'Chumi' has sustained a severe grade II sprain to his right ankle, ruling him out for several weeks. The injury, which occurred during the team's recent trip to Córdoba, is expected to keep Chumi off the pitch for an extended period as he undergoes treatment.

The injury follows a previous setback for the 26-year-old central defender, who had also hurt his right ankle in the match against Real Sociedad 'B' on 29 August. With the swelling now subsided, medical tests have confirmed the severity of the sprain, as initially suggested by head coach Rubi following the match.

Chumi’s misfortune continued during a challenging first half against Córdoba CF, where he was forced to leave the pitch on crutches after a fortuitous incident.

The timeline for his recovery will depend on the progress of his rehabilitation.
