Chumi fractures fifth metatarsal in his left foot

The centre-back will be seen by Dr Ripoll this Tuesday and will have to undergo surgery. Robertone is waiting for medical tests

UD Almería central defender Chumi, who was forced off the pitch in the final minutes of the match against CD Mirandés, broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot, as the medical tests have confirmed after the final whistle. In fact, the footballer, accompanied by Dr Diego Portugal, head of the Club's medical services, was taken to the Virgen del Mar Hospital to undergo those diagnostic tests.

Although the 22-year-old player is visiting the prestigious traumatologist Pedro Luis Ripoll this Tuesday at the Ripoll and De Prado Sport Clinic in Almería, it is highly likely that the centre-back will have to undergo surgery, with the recovery time being around 3 months.

On another note, Robertone, who also had to come off the field of play in the second half, is awaiting medical tests following a hamstring injury in his right leg.

Both Chumi and Robertone have been this Monday under the supervision and treatment of the Club's medical services at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium.

When it comes down to injuries, UD Almería seem to be down on their luck yet again. A few days ago, Juanjo Nieto tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the game in Malaga and after this week’s surgery he will be ruled out of action for a few months.
