Chumi makes 100th UD Almería appearance
The Galicia native central defender has marked a century of UD Almería matches in the best possible fashion since his arrival in the 2020/21 season
Juan Brandariz Movilla, also known as Chumi in football, has made his 100th UD Almería appearance against Sporting de Gijón. It is the second fixture he has played in the current campaign, the fifth campaign for the Galicia native footballer in the Club.
Chumi joined the Rojiblancos in the 2020/21 season and since then, he has marked a century of games in the best possible fashion through hard work and improvement. In that first season, in the second division, he was lined up 16 times; 10 in the league, 2 in the promotion play-offs and 4 in the Spanish Cup.
In 2021/22, at the time of promotion to the top flight, the 25-year-old featured in 27 games; 25 of them in the league and 2 in the Spanish Cup. While in the to tier of Spanish football, he has played 52 games between the 2022/23 (21) and 2023/24 (31) campaigns, with three more added in the Copa del Rey.
The centre-back, who is also one of the team's captains, has scored 3 goals and provided one assist. Born 25 years ago in the A Coruña-based town of Laracha, he signed for UD Almería from the FC Barcelona 'B' team, although he was also an ally of the Barça first team in three Cup ties. He was also a Youth League champion.
