Chirino and Marcos Luna boost UD Almería's right-back options

The two new signings have been officially presented by Club Managing Director Mohamed El Assy

UD Almería have strengthened their right-back position ahead of the 2025/26 season with the addition of Chirino and Marcos Luna, two promising young talents. The Club officially introduced the pair in a press conference held at the UD Almería Stadium with Managing Director Mohamed El Assy praising both players for their potential and previous experience at the top level.

Chirino, who had offers from other clubs, expressed his excitement at joining the Indálicos: 'I knew UD Almería had an ambitious project. They've already played in the top-tier and their goal is to return. I want to play there and I reckon this is a great place to achieve that.'

The versatile player, who is comfortable in both right-back and center-back roles, emphasised his eagerness to contribute to the team's success by saying: 'I just want to help the team achieve its goals.'

Marcos Luna echoed a similar sentiment, highlighting the Club's long-term interest in him: 'They've put a strong bet on me and I see it as a big step in my football career.' Luna, known for his attacking potential as a full-back, acknowledged the importance of balancing offensive and defensive duties: 'The key for a full-back is to strike the right balance between attack and defense.'

Both players reflected positively on the pre-season preparations with Chirino noting the team's growing cohesion: 'There are a lot of new faces, but we’re doing well and I feel we’ve grown as a team.'

Luna, who joined the squad later than most due to his participation in play-offs, was pleased with the team's progress: 'These weeks have been intense, with double sessions and a lot of work on new concepts. The win against Al-Nassr FC boosted our confidence as we approach the season.'

The signings of Chirino and Marcos Luna add depth and versatility to UD Almería's defence, as the Club look to build on their ambitions for a successful season.
