Chirino handed 2-match ban

The UD Almería right-back has been punished after post-match incident against rivals Málaga CF last Sunday

UD Almería right-back Chirino has been handed a 2-match suspension after being sent off by the referee following last Sunday’s clash with Málaga CF. As a result, the defender will miss the upcoming fixtures against Granada CF next Sunday and CD Mirandés on 4 May.

In his report, Basque referee Jon Ander González Esteban stated that Chirino was shown a red card after the final whistle, while players were still on the pitch, for confronting an opponent, grabbing him by the head and then forcefully pushing another rival, sparking a mass confrontation between both Andalusian teams. In addition to the suspension, Chirino has been fined €1,000.

Málaga CF’s Ramón was also sent off in the same incident after confronting the UD Almería player, but he has received a one-match ban. The difference in punishment lies in Chirino’s act of grabbing an opponent by the head.

Elsewhere, 5 UD Almería members are currently one booking away from suspension: Bonini, Marcos Luna, Gui Guedes, Horta and Lopy. The latter returns after serving a suspension following his red card in Santander but still has 9 yellow cards to his name.
