Callejón and Rubén Enri derive great satisfaction out of contract extension with UD Almeria

The Almería native midfielder renews until 2023, while the Catalan striker does it until 2024. They are two of the most impressive performers this season

UD Almería continues planning for the future by renewing Fran Callejón and Rubén Enri’s contracts with the club until 2023 and 2024, respectively. Both academy products played in the Second Division with the first-team making big contributions. So far, they have been key Academy players this season, which is why the club sports management has come to this decision as both of them are the present and the future of Almeria.

Callejón has been carving out a successful football career playing for Almería since he was a child. He has gained prominence as a footballer over the years and successfully performed at the top level playing as both midfielder and centre-back.

The Almeria-born footballer stressed that his contract renewal is ‘a stepping stone to make progress in my career. It is a sheer delight to continue wearing the colours of my homeland’s football team. I will forever be grateful to the club.’

As for Rubén Enri, the striker arrived at UD Almería from ‘CF Reus Deportiu’ in the pre-season of this current campaign 2019/20. The 22-year-old Catalan quickly became a sensation of group IX of the Third Division. He has been in red-hot scoring form helping the side to fight their way to the top positions in the table. In fact, before the competition was suspended due to the Covid-19, the centre-forward scored the most goals ever for Almeria. For the time being, Enri is the top national goal scorer by reason of his 25 goals scored this season.

‘I am overjoyed to continue wearing the red and white colours and playing four more years in this great club’ said the striker, while showing himself ‘grateful to those who have made this renewal possible.’ Enri sent a thoughtful thank you message to his Almeria B team-mates ‘without them it would not have been possible.’
