Both Almeria U19 sides draw in their weekend league commitments

Almeria U19s ‘A’ meeting was delayed due to a thick fog in Melilla while the 'B' side take just a point after opponent’s last-gasp equaliser

The two UD Almería Under19s teams finished their league commitments at the weekend with draws. The team competing in ‘Division of Honor’, experienced a setback when heading to Melilla and therefore, their meeting was postponed several hours later. The lads had to settle for a goalless draw. Almeria Under19s ‘B’ playing in ‘Liga Nacional’ dropped two points just before the final whistle.

Miguel Compán’s pupils had to spend more than four hours stuck at the Almería airport as a result of the plane not being able to take off because a dense fog dawned upon the Autonomous City of Melilla (Africa). Once the fog lifted, the plane took off at 11:30 a.m. Thankfully, the match was postponed until 1:00 p.m.

After all the hassle, Almería faced tough opponents Rusadir. There were moments throughout the 90 minutes in which the youth players despite going all out for a win - somewhat the boys were affected by all the trip complications arose-their goal attempts were not enough so that the contest ended in a goalless draw.

As for Almeria Under19s ‘B’, the squad visited Atlético Jaén on a matchday that was expected to be a nip and tuck game before it started. The UD Almería Academy young contenders got off to the perfect start. Valen’s goal put his side ahead on 22 minutes. With the boys from Jaen chasing an equaliser, the clock was ticking with 0-1. The Rojiblancos also had some scoring opportunities to have secured the all three points. However, when everything was coming to end, the adversaries scored a surprising last-gasp equaliser to make it 1-1.

Both youth teams play next weekend at home. While the 'A' side are to host CD Tiro Pichón, the 'B' team also take on La Cañada Atlético on home turf. Both matches will be contested at Ciudad Deportiva de Los Angeles in Almeria city.

Regarding the rest of the Almeria Academy teams- Almeria U16s, U14s and U12s-, the Andalusian Football Federation (RFAF) decided to postpone their respective competitions until further notice due to the recent Covid-19 spikes. It is still unknown whether the leagues can start from 15th November or it is advisable to put the tournaments on hold.
