LaLiga Genuine comes to an end after fun-filled weekend
The UD Almeria Genuine travelling squad had a great time not only competing but also sharing true sport values in the city of Villarreal
The 2022/23 LaLiga Genuine Santander season has concluded in Villarreal in the presence of more than 1,000 players and coaching teams that make up this inclusive league in a spectacular atmosphere after 8 months of competition. On 10-11 June, the José Manuel Llaneza Sports complex has been the setting chosen by host club Villarreal CF.
Moreover, hundreds of travelling fans accompanied the 44 participating teams throughout the weekend, demonstrating that the values of this competition are also very present in the stands. In addition to the exciting 66 games that have been played over these two days, a fun-filled end of season party, which was held on Saturday evening, was attended by all the members of the project. It was a celebration with rivals that managed to highlight the true values of LaLiga Genuine Santander: sharing before competing.
The 6 winners of this 2022/23 season are the following: RCD Espanyol (Deportividad Group) RCD Mallorca (Compañerismo Group), and CA Osasuna (Respeto Group). For their part, the champions of the Fair Play trophies have been the Celta Integra Foundation (Deportividad Group), Nàstic de Tarragona (Compañerismo Group), and Athletic Club Fundazioa (Respeto Group).
On Sunday, the stars of LaLiga Genuine Santander greatly enjoyed a final parade of the 44 teams along with by their travelling fans, relatives and friends before the awarding of medals and trophies to the winning teams.
LaLiga President Javier Tebas and Villarreal CF President Fernando Roig were in charge of presiding over the ceremony, accompanied by other institutional representatives of Villarreal CF and LaLiga, as well as the associated brands of the competition.
Javier Tebas took the opportunity to publicly thank everyone for their hard work in a bid to make this competition possible: 'Thank you all. Thanks to family, friends and fans for always being by our side. Thanks to Fernando Roig and Villarreal CF for hosting us and, above all, thanks to all the players for everything they always teach us.'
Fernando Roig highlighted the role of LaLiga and its effort and commitment to such an important project: 'I want to thank LaLiga its President for making this competition possible for us to welcome everybody here this weekend.'
One more season, after competing in 6 sport venues across Spain and more than 260 matches played in total, this league shows us the power of football as a tool for change in society. LaLiga Genuine Santander teaches us that sport also means positive values such as companionship, sportsmanship or friendship, without forgetting competitiveness and passion.
