Federico Bonini joins UD Almería to bolster defensive and offensive options

The Italian centre-back arrives from US Catanzaro after impressive Italian second-tier Serie B campaign

UD Almería have secured the signing of Federico Bonini, a 24-year-old Italian centre-back, who joins the Club from Serie B side US Catanzaro. Standing at 1.88m, Bonini played a pivotal role in US Catanzaro's promotion play-off run last season, scoring 9 goals and contributing 5 assists across 40 appearances, including 36 league fixtures, 3 play-off games, and 1 Coppa Italia fixture.

Born in Massa, Italy, on 6 August 2001, Bonini made his mark as a professional in Serie B, following earlier spells at Serie C clubs Virtus Estella and AS Gubbio. Known for his left-footed style of play, Bonini not only strengthens UD Almería’s defence but also offers an additional attacking threat, with his ability to score goals from set-pieces and open play.

The 24-year-old defender, who has represented Italy at U19 and U21 levels, chose to join UD Almería despite receiving multiple offers from other clubs in Italy, signaling his desire to make an impact in Spanish football.

Bonini is UD Almería’s 9th signing of the summer following the arrivals of goalkeeper Andrés Fernández, full-backs Marcos Luna, Chirino, and Alex Muñoz, centre-back Nelson Monte, midfielders Dzodic, André Horta and forward Soko.
